St Katherine’s in Chiselhampton, Oxfordshire
Sitting pretty in hedge-lined seclusion just 6 miles southeast of the dreaming spires of Oxford, the simple Georgian beauty of St Katherine’s in Chiselhampton is full of light. With its charming box pews complete with reading lamps and a bare wooden floor-boarded gallery above, it’s little wonder that this simple church was a favourite of poet laureate John Betjeman, who wrote “Verses Turned in Aid of a Public Subscription towards the Restoration of the Church of St. Katherine, Chiselhampton” in 1952. We simply couldn’t put it better ourselves.
